Şile

Located adjacent to Istanbul white the greenery of Sile provides peace on one side, the aggressive Black Sea makes one’s blood boil on the other side. One has to be an excellent swimmer in order
to bathe in the sea here.

One of the major symbols of the town, the §ile Lighthouse, was built by Sultan Aziz in 1858-59. The famed Sile Castle was built by the Byzantines and used by the Ottomans. Another interesting site at Sile is a natural structure situated about 600 meters behind the lighthouse, known as the Weeping Rock” due to the resemblance of a water spring coming from in between to a tear drop.

Sile is not only a favorite holiday resort of those who wish to swim in the sea in summer months or who wish to go on picnics; it is also a venue in winter and spring months for environmental treks and barbecue parties.
 Site, is situated at a distance of 70 kilometers from Istanbul.
